Anxiety and stress affect both the mind and the body. These may have positive or negative impacts depending on your perception of a situation. There are some stressors you can avoid and others that you cannot. Counseling can help you identify your stressors and which ones you are able to avoid or cope with, as well as teach you effective stress management habits that will balance your daily life.
Signs and Symptoms of Stress:
- Recurrent distressing memories and/or dreams of the traumatic event
- Flashbacks where the individual feels as though they are experiencing the trauma again
- Intense psychological distress when exposed to triggers that remind you of the event
- Difficulty falling or staying asleep
- Lack of interest in activities you used to enjoy
- Inability to experience positive emotions
- Reckless or self-destructive behavior
